Everything New Streaming On (And Leaving From) Hulu In August 2022

The big original film this month is the newest in the Predator series, Prey. They also have a lot of new original series on the way. Oh, and for some absolutely ridiculous reason the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is coming to Hulu… 1 month after most countries globally got it on Disney+. Disney, tell us you hate Disney+ USA without telling us.

Oh, Hulu. You are a strange beast, aren’t you? You exist in such a weird place. Somehow Disney is providing you better content than Disney+ (and a lot better than you were getting 2 years ago). It’s like you’ve shifted in their priorities. In 2019 it was all about Disney, but Disney+ has not done very well in America. You have more subscribers, your growth is faster… as if respecting adults and providing a full library of content (including bingeable TV shows and next day episodes) makes you a worthwhile service. Who’d have thought?!

At the same time, we all know you kinda shouldn’t be here. Not in this form. It’s obnoxious how you hoard content that would be better suited for Disney+. It’s strange that you do not license your Disney-distributed titles like Touchstone or Fox for longer than 1-3 month periods. Why do you act so non-committal? You’re a Disney Streaming service and you shouldn’t use a different strategy than Disney+. Rotating licensed content is fine, but why do you churn Fox / Touchstone films each month? It’s boring. We’re tired of reporting the exact same Touchstone and 20th films coming and going over and over again. So, once again Hulu is adding a lot of films in August, but most will be gone within the next few months.
