Rant: Nat Geo Content Shifting New Episodes to Hulu From Disney+

Except, sadly, it looks unlikely. For the 2nd month in a row, Disney’s increasingly incompetent Nat Geo / Hulu strategy has devolved to the pre-Disney+ days. The “Nat Geo” brand tile is losing a considerable amount of meaning and value, but that’s been the case for about half a year now.

In January, Cesar Milan’s Better Human, Better Dog Season 3 and Port Protection Alaska Season 6 become the 2nd and 3rd shows since December to shift from Disney+ to Hulu where they will now enjoy next day episode releases. Disney+ has always failed it subscribers by not offering next day episodes for their major brands, but Disney and Nat Geo deciding to make a deal for Hulu to have next day Nat Geo NOW, 3 years into Disney+ and the same month Disney+ launched an ad-tier and jacked its prices up is PAINFUL. It’s hilarious how poorly run this company is and how much they seem to hate their own flagship service.

That ad-tier launch and unwarranted price increase on Disney+ is DEFINITELY not leading to the brighter future people expected, eh? Someone at Disney apparently despises their Disney+ subscribers so much that even after adding the ad tier in December the 2nd half of 2022’s trend of undermining Disney+ and pushing weekly Nat Geo to Hulu continues. Big middle finger from whoever signed those deals to Disney+. Welcome to the new normal.
